A slight departure — or maybe a return to form depending on who you ask — from its past releases, the game focused more on off-road racing than on rallying, which the developer was known for.

Compared to Dirt Rally 2.0 that catered to discerning rally enthusiasts, DIRT 5 is more accessible and beginner-friendly. It featured an arcade-style, pick up and play gameplay. Graphics are better than they have ever been, with highly detailed cars and environments. There are also plenty of tracks and events to race on, complete with dynamic weather systems for more immersion.

Lastly, Career Mode now has 5 levels with numerous tracks to compete on, as well as the addition of narrations between races. Those wanting to check the game out should take note of a few things. First is the rather limited customization options for cars. Second, the addition of narrations is superfluous at best, and awkward at worst.

A fun and beautiful arcade racer

DIRT 5 should be considered as Codemaster's return to its arcade roots, and it did a great job at it for its last game release as an independent game studio. Apart from some superfluous additions, it's a fun and beautiful arcade-style racer that anyone can just pick up and immediately have a great time with. Highly recommended for any racing fan out there.
